Poll Shows 70 Percent of Voters Want Prescott Out
A recent poll conducted by The Times has shown that a majority of voters have lost their confidence in Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott.
The poll, which was conducted over the weekend, showed some 70 percent of the public, including 59 percent of Labour voters, believe that Prescott should resign immediately or be relieved from his post.
Prescott has been involved in a string of controversies, the latest and most damaging of which is his involvement with casino tycoon Philip Anschutz. Prescott has been under heavy criticism following the discovery of his stay on the billionaire's Colorado estate in July 2005.
Prescott has been accused of meddling in the decision-making process on which location Britain's first super casino will be at, and he is said to have been biased towards the Millennium Dome which Anschutz owns.
Blair's second in command is currently under a full Parliamentary probe, an investigation looking into whether he violated ministerial codes by accepting gifts and hospitality from the casino tycoon.
Only 23 percent of the voters and 37 percent of Labour voters believe him to be innocent.
Prime Minister Tony Blair is also in hot water, as more than 60 percent of voters want him out of the office by the end of next year.
